A French repousee pewter plate, with design influenced by the period of King Francois 1st of France. The salamander with crown above was his personal emblem. He reigned from 1515 until his death in 1547. With fleur-de-lis decoration to background and edge.
Three marks stamped on the back. One is a crown and rosette (a European quality mark). One is of Archangel Michael, holding a sword in one hand and a shield in the other. The other is illegible.
