Very Rare Antique Fruitwood Dresser Base, 17th Century (English, circa 1660 to 1690)

A superb collector's piece. Has been in a private collection for the past 25 years.

It is rare to find a dresser base this early which is not your typical heavy dark 17th Century oak. It is also rare to find a dresser base made of fruitwood (because fruit tress do not often grow large enough to provide the size of planks required). So it is extremely rare to find such a fine early example in fruitwood, all made from the same tree.

Exceptional rich glowing colour and excellent patina. One plank top which is very rare.

Excellent storage with full height cupboard doors either side of central column of three working drawers.

The dummy moulding to the top of the cupboard doors, mirroring the moulding to the drawer fronts shows the attention to detail and gives the piece a beautifully balanced look. Certainly this is a quality piece, which would have been made especially for a wealthy client.

Original brass handles, escutcheons and hinges.

Standing on lovely tall stile feet, original both front and back.

35.00 inches high, 59.50 inches wide, 19.00 inches deep
(88.90 cm high, 151.13 cm wide, 48.26 cm deep)
